Will originally did a BSc in Physics and Computer Science at the University of Birmingham and then went on to study marine engineering spending 3 years in the merchant navy. He then worked as a research and development engineer designing the control system for solid oxide fuel cells. He enjoyed the process of research and decided to begin a PhD within the Fruk group focussing on the novel design of biosensors using a high precision inkjet printer.
